Islam Today does not publish AI-generated or photographic depictions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the family of the Prophet (Ahl al-Bayt), the Sahaba, or any prophet. This position aligns with the majority Sunni and Shia consensus. Where a piece requires visual representation, we use calligraphy of non-sacred script, mosque architecture, manuscript illumination, or symbolic geometric imagery.
This rule extends to all image sources: AI-illustration tools, photography, video, third-party embeds, and reader-submitted images. Editorial illustrations may use AI-illustration tools (Imagen 4 with our Anchor B geometric-pattern prompt) provided they never depict a prophet, never render Names of Allah or the shahada as decoration, and never depict the Ahl al-Bayt or Sahaba. Every image is vetted at upload.
If you find an image on this site that violates this rule, please write to [email protected]. We will remove it, log the correction, and post a dated notice on the affected page.
